Annamaria Prati
Hello! I am a PhD candidate in political science at Washington University in St. Louis and on the academic job market (here is my job market paper). I work at the intersection of international relations, comparative politics, and political methodology.
Substantively, I study how the international community supports fragile states, with a specific focus on peacebuilding projects led by the United Nations Development Programme aimed at improving local governance around the world. My dissertation features field work in Nepal paired with sophisticated quantitative analyses of micro-level administrative data. My methods work includes contributions in Bayesian machine learning and large language models, with a specific focus on methods for improving research in the areas of peacebuilding. My work has been published in Artificial Intelligence and Statistics, won the Best Poster Award from the American Political Science Association, and has received financial support from Washington University’s Center for Race, Ethnicity, and Equity, the Weidenbaum Center on the Economy, Government, and Public Policy, and the Institute of Humane Studies.
Prior to attending WashU, I graduated Phi Beta Kappa with interdisciplinary honors from Stanford University, earning a bachelor's degree in international realtions. I have master's degrees from the University of Chicago and Columbia University, as well as experience working in the data science industry. You can find my CV here.
